Cotton Towelling Fabric (or Cotton Terry) is a thicker, fuzzier fabric that you know from bathrooms because it has high absorbency on both sides. It is used for towels, bath towels, bathrobes, etc. It is also used to make kitchen towels, bibs, or cloth nappies as an inner absorbent layer. The cotton is woven on a polyester grid, which makes the terry durable.
How to sew towelling fabric: We recommend using a stretch needle (STRETCH with a rounded tip, size 75 to 90, the finer the material, the thinner the tip) to sew. To preserve the elasticity of the fabric, sew with an overlocker or use a zigzag, overlock, or Z-stitch on your home machine.
