Linen fabric is renowned for its exceptional durability, being the strongest natural fiber. Despite its strength, it retains a soft, lightweight feel and has a long lifespan, with its qualities improving over time. The fabric has a distinctive texture and is both hypoallergenic and antibacterial, making it suitable for those with allergies. It has excellent moisture-wicking properties, keeping you cool during summer and providing warmth in winter. The breathability of linen makes it an excellent choice for summer garments, while it adds a touch of warmth to scarves and shawls during the colder months. Due to its absorbent nature, linen is commonly used for creating towels, cloths, tablecloths, and bed linen. Its natural tendency to wrinkle is considered by many linen enthusiasts as an appealing characteristic that enhances its unique appearance.

Thanks to its strong plain weave structure, linen fabric is resistant to stretching and friction. Both white and natural linen can withstand high-temperature washing without fear of damaging the fibres. However, this caution applies to coloured and printed linens, as high-temperature washing may affect their colour or print. To account for shrinkage, it is advisable to prewash the fabric in a washing machine or steam iront before sewing. If you choose to wash the fabric after purchase, we recommend finishing the edges to prevent fraying.

Among the most popular options of linen meterage are natural unbleached linen and linen certified for use with food. Fine softened canvas is perfect for clothing, while coarse canvas is commonly used for crafting linen bags and various decorative items.
