Double Gauze

Muslin fabrics, also known as gauze, are available by the metre in various patterns and popular colours, including old pink, burgundy, brown, mint, petrol, and many others. 

It is a lightweight, non-elastic fabric primarily made from 100% cotton, known for its crinkled appearance. Our designer-printed muslin consists of a blend of cotton and bamboo, which ensures its softness even after repeated washing. The fabric has canvas binding which is created using a technique known as double weaving. This means that two layers of gauze are interwoven with a thread at regular grid intervals, and the fabric is intentionally crinkled during the production process. This double or triple-layered muslin has numerous benefits. Despite not containing any elastane, the fabric has a slightly elastic feel due to its crinkled texture. However, we do not recommend it for sewing tight-fitting garments. Muslin fabric can be manufactured as single-layered, double-layered, or triple-layered.

The cotton fibres are pre-washed, resulting in a soft, airy fabric that is gentle on the skin. Compared to regular cotton, muslin has a looser, more open structure.

It is non-transparent, so there is no need for lining. One of its great advantages is that it does not require ironing. (If you decide to iron it, the maximum temperature should not exceed 110°C. Avoid using steam to prevent damaging its desired crinkled appearance).

Our muslin is incredibly pleasant to the touch, soft, lightweight, and breathable, even more so than cotton. These qualities make it increasingly popular among fabric choices.

Frequent washing makes the fabric even softer and smoother. It is also absorbent and effectively absorbs liquids. Muslin fabric tends to shrink, so take this into account before sewing garments and consider prewashing the fabric. It is advisable to finish the edges before washing to prevent fraying.
